My son likes dresses
This is Dakoa and he’s 2 and a half years old
There was a program on The Today Show yesterday morning (25.5.2011) about parents letting their 4 y.o son become a girl because he liked to wear dresses and play with dolls. The young boy had an older sister and from what I’ve seen with my son, he copies the sister in so many ways, including dress sense etc.
My 2 y.o son has been wearing dresses since he could walk. He also gets his nails done from time to time and constantly requests to put on ‘pweety dress’. In fact he sometimes insists on wearing dresses to the shops. I get great reactions from shop assistants looking at my son and saying “she’s so pretty”. I then tell her that it’s my son, they go bright red and apologise and I tell them the story.
This happens all over the world and I fell that some parents just jump to conclusions and should let their kid just be a kid, without crying “gender identity crisis’
This was in the Australian today on page 3 (26.5.2011)
Title: Storm over couple’s plan to raise ‘genderless’ child
Here’s a little clip I pulled from Youtube about boys wearing pink toenail polish.
And here is a little mock video I did with Dakoa this afternoon.
